I have a Hunter 25.5 with a bow light lightly welded onto the Bow Sprit. This weld gave way when it got bumped coming into the slip and I lost my bow light mount and the light. What I need is a "bar mounted" bow light. I've looked everywhere for one but can't find a mount or light like the original one. Can anyone tell me where to find a mount and light?

You could have someone weld a small piece of stanless (they should be able to do a better job) to the bow pulpit. Most of the new bow lights are bolted to a backing plate. Once the new plate is welded, figure out where to drill (or drill first before having it welded.) Search around. A "real" welder will charge you a lot of money just to come out to the marina. Ask around, one of the marine mechanics might do some welding. Failing that, you just need to figure out how to bolt or clamp a stainless plate to the pulpit. But welding is you best bet!

25.5 Bow Light
Tim, I replaced mine. The replacement light is an Aqua Signal #25100-7 (Series 25 bi-color). Most marine suplies will carry this, including Westmarine, pyacht,etc. For the bracket you have two choices. The easiest is Aqua Signal #25900-1. It is a plastic mount that fastens to the pulpit rail with "U" bolts. I chose to use a stainless plate. Again Aqua Signal makes one to fit Series 25 lights. The part 3 is 25902-1. You could weld it to the pulpit rail. I chose to drill and tap the rail and mount the plate with a machine screw and Locktite. Dave

Maintain Proper Angle
Even if one light was lost overboard there should be the other one available to use to get measurements from. It's a requirement to have the navigation lights cover the proper arc so since the pulpit tubes converge to a point at the bow if a plage is screwed or welded on that is parallel to the railing the arc angle will be off. Doesn't the backing plate on the other light have an slight angle (around, say, 10 degrees or so) where it's welded to the railing? If so then whatever the angle is should be maintained so that the backing plate is parallel to the boat centerline.

Insulated Wire Clamps
There is a 25.5 in our old marina with the same deal. He used aircraft wire clamps around the pulpit to hold his light on. Not sure where you could pick them up at unless you know a guy who works on planes. Might be easy there in Wichita or maybe McMaster Carr carries them..

Bow Light Angle
John's comment on angle is correct. The way I dealt with this was to mount the 25902-1 plate at the "U" in the bow pulpit. The plate is actually a deck plate, and is "L" shaped. The short leg can be tapped or welded to the top surface of the "U", making sure that the plate is vertical. If the plate were mounted to the angled leg of the pulpit, the bow light would not be aimed properly. Dave
