I'm happy to share we have just purchased are first Hunter sailboat it is a 44ds 2003. It is in excellent condition or at least it was until I hit our first log. It's like the first dent in a new car. Anyways it is done and repaired. I'd like to get a stainless steel about guard approximately 18 inches that wraps around the nose. Does anyone have any ideas do I need to get a custom guard made or is there one I can purchase?

I would think you need to find a stainless fabricating shop to make what you want
or maybe some one here will help with that and I am also interested.
My idea was a flat piece of stainless on the nose for protection because I have a chip
on the bottom water line I think from my anchor swinging into it.
But need to get the anchor up quicker before moving.

I would also like a SS bow guard. Have not been able to find a manufacturer. Please let me know if you find one.

I had one made at a local shop. I took a couple of pieces of cardboard and made a template of the angles one from the bottom and one of the top. Then measured the length that I wanted. I've attached a picture. Disregard the sailor's wind chime hanging off the bow. I used 5200 to attach it. It did slip down a little below the water line but that's ok.
I wish I could make the picture bigger for you to look at. I don't know how to do that.

Hi. That looks great. Nice job! I will look at doing this too. I definitely want this below waterline I like the fact of no holes and using PL5200.
Thx dwayne

I made a stainless bow cap years ago. Go to a medical supply house and get some splint gauze. Wet the gauze and form it around the bow. Keep working the material until it dries . You will have a perfect mold.
