Hi, I am sure this has been answered before but I could not find anything in the archives. I need to replace the boweye on my daysailer II, any help would be appreciated.

Are you asking for a how-to?

If you are wondering how to get at the inside of the bow to access the nut for the eye-bolt, the answer is to cut a hole in the bulkead at the forward end of the cuddy space, either install a hatch to cover the opening, or an inspection port. The bow-eye on my boat was replaced by the previous owner and that was basically how he did it. You could also call Rudy at D&R Marine for advice, however I suspect that he will tell you the same that I just did. You can get a replacement bow-eye at a local marine supply store or order one from WEST Marine or Boat/US, Boaters World, Sailnet, or other source. D&R Marine will also have this part.

18 inch reach

I had to replace my bow eye last year. The biggest problem after lying on my back head to the bulkhead for an hour or so digging a tunnel with a chisel towards the back of the boweye, was tightening the nut on the replacement boweye. I had to get two long extensions and a long socket (I think 3/4 inch)to be able to reach in the 18 inches in from the bulkhead. Attached is a picture of where the previous owner had started and stopped, obviously stimied by the foam floatation. Wear a dust mask, this stuff was hard on the lungs.
