I have a 1994 Hunter 26, which comes standard with one center bow cleat. The newer 260 comes with both a port and starboard bow cleat on the gunwale about 15" back from the bow. I would like to modify my 26 to have both cleats. My plan was to go through the anchor locker bulkhead and attach a backing plate to support the cleat. The hole would then be closed with an access plate. I talked to Hunter and they were not sure the gunwale would be strong enough to support the cleat even with a backing plate. Has anyone had any experience doing this. Thanks, Jack
