Hello, I just bought a 75 oday 20. What are some of the things I need to look out for. I have not seen it up close since the boat is near Destin FLA and I'm near Chattanooga TN. Is there some Oday beginner tips?. About 25 years ago I sailed sunfishes and little cats around. To me this is a big Boat. I hope this post sticks I have tried to post it 2 times and it does not show up on the board/ Mike

Being as the boat is in another state........

...your first concerns will likely be focussed on the trailer so you can get the boat back home. In my experience the trailers can require as much maintenance as the boats. Check the tires for pressure and cracking - they sit in the sun for years and the sidewalls will often fail long before the tread is gone. Bearings are difficult to check without disassembly but you can try towing a mile or two and then check the temperature of the hubs. A hot hub is an indication of bearing problems. Salt water and electrical connections are always a problematic combination and it may take some fiddling to get all the lights to work. As for the boat, do an inventory to make sure you have all the important parts before you leave. When you get home is not the time to find that the previous owner stored the boom in the rafters of his garage!
