InterLux Micron CSC
Tony Our experience with our 1982 Hunter 27 is with Interlux Micron CSC. It has worked well for our situation, but that may not translate to yours. Nevertheless, here are some details. Our boat is kept in a marina off of the Indian River Lagoon, where the water is fairly warm year round and is brackish, not full ocean salty. But in those conditions, we are going on two years with the same paint job and it is in very good shape. A quick brush off with a 3M scrubber and it's good to go. We have had very few barnacles or tube worms, except a few right at the water line, otherwise just a lot of slime that brushes off easily. We do, of course, have hard growth on the prop and shaft if the boat sits very long. But the only other place we have had a large growth of barnacles is on the very bottom of the keel. This is, fairly obviously, because we had sandblasted off the paint on that part of the keel when we ran aground once or twice (operator error!). So the proof to me that the Micron CSC paint is a good one for our waters is that keel bottom: no paint, lots of hard growth. Painted areas, only slime that brushes off easily. Finally, I put three or four coats of the paint on in October of 2002, when it was pulled after we purchased it. The more coats the better. Good luck, Ron
