I finished bottom painting my boat today. I painted the areas where the boat rests on the bunks by making a bracket that fit under the boat when the tounge was as low as I could get it. Then I raised the tounge and the boat rested on the bracket and a 4x4 that was sitting by my bow roller. Lifted it off of the bunks about 2 inches. I then painted the areas, let the boat dry, and put the boat back down. It worked great. If anyone has any questions about the details on what I did feel free to ask!

Interested in details of the bracket

This sounds like something that I might use use for bottom painting my H216. I would be interested in the details of how you made the bracket. Additional photos would also be nice if convenient for you to provide.

Details

The bracket was made from 2 4x4 boards for support and 1 2x4. The first cut was I measured the distance between the bunks on my trailer. I cut the first 4x4 to that size. I then measured the distance from the ground to the bottom of my boat with the trailer jack down as far as it would go. I cut the remaining 4x4 to that distance (ended up with 3 4x4 supports). I attached the 3 4x4 supports to the bottom of the first 4x4 that I cut with 6 inch lag screws. I then used the 2x4 and cut two pieces off of it the same distance as the width between the trailer bunks. I put one 2x4 support on the bottom where the ground would meet the 4x4 supports and I attanced the other piece where the 4x4 supports met the top 4x4. Kind of confusing, the way that I explained it, but I will try to get a picture of my support bracket. Once the bracket was made I slipped it under the hull of the boat and between the bunks of my trailer. I then jacked the tounge of the trailer up and the boat came to rest against the bow roller and the support bracket (totally lifted off of the bunks).

Details - photos

While I do get a general idea of what you did for the support bracket, photos would be great. Thanks!
