Bottom paint, what did I do wrong?

In May I bought my Macgregor 26S and proceded to do a full bottom job. The boat had never had bottom pain before as it had always been dry sailed.
I used Interprotect 2000E for the barrier coat and 3 coats of West Marine CPP for anti fouling paint.
I put the boat in the water in late May and hauled it out Yesterday. I noticed some fairly good sized chunks of paint peeling off with some of the slime buildup before the ballast tank had even finished draining out. I took it through a car wash and it cleaned up right nice. Today I noticed more peeling, seems to be only one coat at a time and It may be only the last coat that is peeling. I'm pretty sure I followed the recommended time between coats and time before launching. Did I screw up my application or is this "normal" for this type of paint?

How exactly did you apply the first cost of paint to the IP 2KE? What paint was used for the first layer?

MS, I applied the interprotect per directions then after the drying time in the IP directions I began applying the CPP using a new foam roller. So far doesn't look like the CPP is peeling from the 2000E, just between coats of CPP. I used the same paint and method and timing to paint the rudder which spent most of it's time sticking up in the air, other than some fading it seems to be solid. Also the paint that was mostly above the waterline shows no peeling.
I'll try to get some pics tomorrow when the sun is shining.

Had that happen once on one side of the boat. FINALLY figured out that I had painted that side early in the morning, and it had not had time to evaporate moisture off the surface. Peeled right off in chunks. This was the finall coat, so SOME was left, but not much.

Did you hot coat the first layer of paint over the last layer of barrier? This is the absolute best & the recommended method for bonding the initial paint coat to the barrier.

If you did not hot coat did you sand the last layer of barrier before applying paint? If you miss the hot coat then you really need to sand with 80 grit for the best adhesion and follow the instructions for the vinyls like VC Offshore etc...

"The best method to determine when the InterProtect 2000E is Ready-to-Overcoat with antifouling paint is to check the paint film using the ‘Thumb Print’ test. If the primer feels tacky and you can leave a thumb print in the paint film without getting any paint on your thumb the InterProtect 2000E is ready for overcoating."

If it is paint to paint what were temps, humidity etc....

I believe Main got it right.

The first part of a successful project is in the preparation & ONLY the prep work.
Having done this the first time, who knows what failed? Maybe it wasn't the right thinner, alcohol, cleaner, etc. But, this cannot be undone. What can happen NOW is a different approach for the future.

However, all's not lost, as you did discover a problem (usually on the front-end).
So, next time should be the charm. However, that's not an acceptable contrite at this point, but should aid you in the future.

PS:, I had the same problem ONCE from shoddy boat yard practices when I wasn't there to check them.
BUT, THIS HAPPENED ONLY ONCE..........fear not,

MS, Yeah The first coat of CPP went on the 2000E while it was still tacky per the directions. the "peeling looks to only be in the CPP coats.
And after getting down on the damp grond and crawing under the boat for pics I may have been freaking out over less than I thought it was. The "peeling" is only coming up where I didn't quite get all the slime off. the paint stuck to the curling slime is thin enough to be translucent. Kind of looks like it's probably OK after all but I'll defer to the opinions of those with more experience. Looks like I still have some cleaning to do though.
