Be careful
There is more than one type of peel-away. The hardware store stuff is not as strong as the Marine stuff. Do a Yahoo search and check out their webpage. They talk about this. Of course, the marine grade is more expensive.Personally, I have never used it. But everyone that I know says...yes, it works well...and it is messy.About bottom paints. Take the time to choose it wisely. I but on a multi-season ablative. This paint can spend a winter on the hard and get drops back in the water in the spring. The trick is that it is ablative. The paint slowly disolves away as it releases the chemicals. As long as there is paint on the bottom, you can be assured you are protected.I reduces the future paint removal projects quite a bit. Also, be careful when stacking bottom paints. If you used a modified epoxy paint, you would have to sand it down before putting on a coat of albative.Interlux has a useful guide on their websote about their paint compatibility.Good Luck!CraigPS: I used Interlix Micron CSC w/Biolux. The boat stayed in the water from May of 2001 to January of 2002 here in Buzzards Bay (Cape Cod). I pulled it out and the bottom was perfect. This stuff is well worth the extra cash. Best bottom paint I have used in years!
