The bottom pain on my old H 27 is chipping and spallig in places. I looks as if a water got behid the paint and then froze causing a crack in the paint which then flakes off when you scrape it. Underneath the gell coat is fine and it looks like the barrier coat is fine. I don't like the idea of sanding because of the time involved as well as the close proximity of other boats to mine in the boat yard. Does anyone have any experience with the semi pate strppers ?

Yes. Just used the bottom paint stripper...

on yesterday and I was not impressed with the results (following the manufacturer's directions). I found it to be much easier to apply a coat, let it sit for 20-30 minutes, go over it with another coat and let it sit overnight. Today I went back with a wire brush wheel that attaches to a drill and knocked 80% off the first try. A little sandpaper got the rest off. I decided to use Interlux's Interprotect system. Got the first barrier coat on and it looks great. Only four more coats to go... ...then the bottom paint.
