Bottom paint question

I recently (within the past week) had my 29.5 hull painted at a local yard. The work looked great when it was in the sling ready to launch. I was the first launch of the day. The boat went back into the water on Friday. We took the boat out on Sunday and I swam under the boat to see what it looked like and to admire the nice new bottom. What I found was several places where the sling from the lift had pulled the paint off completely to the gel coat. It looks like they put the boat in the sling while the paint was still wet so, they could paint the rest of the boat where the stands were.

I guess my question is: Should I call the yard back to have them fix it?

There is a limited warranty for the work. I'm not going to worry about it if it will not cause issues with the bottom down the road. The issue is that I have to re-arrange my schedule and someone else to drop-off and pick-up the boat. It irritates me that I paid a good deal of money and the work was not done properly. I have 30 days before the warranty expires. Thanks for your help.

Well, you don't have bottom paint everywhere. You would not have the bottom painted if you didn't need it. Yes, have them re do it!

Well, IMHO, the "better" way to do this with a launch afterward is to paint the hull except for under the jack stands and the keel and then launch the boat the next day. With the boat in the slings, paint the jack stand spots and under the keel. Give it a 30 minutes or more to sorta dry and splash it.

Yes, by all means ask the yard to fix their error. There is no reason why you should pay your money and not have the job done properly.

You paid to have paint on the bottom of the entire boat. I would talk to them about a touch-up.

They owe you a repair. The paint was too fresh when they put it on the travel lift. Be prepared for them to push back. Also, get a cheap underwater cameras and take a bunch of photos to record it in case it becomes necessary to haul them into small claims court. Your bottom job is going to be a problem if, as it sounds, the paint damage is that big. They should put wax paper on the bilge corners before lifting too. Keeps the sharper radiuses from being abraded too.
