Has anyone every had a problem with the color matching after applying the second coat. I just painted the bottom of my boat and noticed that areas on the boat are drying in lighter and darker shades of red. Then after applying the second coat the next day the same thing. I mixed up the paint real well. The only thing I can think of is maybe the temperature of the bottom was slightly different in spots....but I wouldn't think that would change the color as much as it has. Also I washed the bottom by hand....scrub it pretty well... and removed alot of oxidation. I used alot of different kinds of paint....and I've never ran across anything like this. The paints dry, so I its not a case of wet and dry spots. And its not different paint because it all came out of the same can. ?????

Not to worry

Air temperature, fiberglass temperature, humidity, sunlight and breezes all conspire to dry the paint in seemingly awkward ways that make you want to keep going back to touch up. Relax. Come back in a week and it will all look fine.

base coat different color with ablatives

Since using ablatives my base coat has always been blue. Bottom additional coats are black. I stay in water multi seasons, when I see blu start to show I know it's time (still have a season) to haul and repaint. Works great for me!
