Catalina 82 silver
Im looking at buying a Catalina 27 fixed keel that has been in the water for 10 years. Its lake water not ocean. What am I likely to run into when I pull it out? Is it possible that I can get away with sanding and painting? Or do I need to assume it will need some fiberglas work?
Thanks GM

You're kidding, right? You can see the boat, we can't, so I'm not quite sure I understand how anyone "remote" can even begin to your question. We could give you statistics about needs for 10 year boats in water, but we have Noooo idea how well kept it might have been before.

You might want to read this: how to post a question: http://forums.catalina.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=101369

BTW, the C27 is a great boat, good luck with it.

Well, you can be pretty certain that it will have blisters, it will need to be sand blasted, it willneed to be re-epoxied, sealed and painted, it could run up to a couple grand. Sorry to be the bearer of badnews but my 85 C30 was stored indoors everywinter and thats what it needed. She is better than new now though.
