Province town to Yarmouth
Sailing to Yarmouth NS from Province town took us 2 days and 2 nights. Quite a lot of fog. We made the trip Aug of 1981 on my dad's Bristol 40. In those days, we had Loran C. Yarmouth was on the edge of good coverage. With the engine going, we could only get one line of position. Swift currents made dead reckoning difficult. Didn't have radar in those days. Navigation was tricky. Going down the channel into the harbor, we heard the voices of fishermen and anchor but never saw them. In the harbor, we tied up to a fishing vessel which served as our floating dock, which was helpful given the tidal range.
