Friends,

Has anyone had experience with the Boomkicker on a C-30 trbs? I just purchased one and I'm interested to learn what pros and cons you have had.

Jim, one of the great features of this site is their archives, accessed through the new and improved search engine, upper right tab. I just typed in boomkicker and found this: http://forums.catalina.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?p=658427&highlight=boomkicker

Many have used it, but for larger boats like yours, many recommend Garhauer's rigid vang. We have one and love it. Anything to get rid of that topping lift!

I can't disagree with Stu about the ridgid vang, nor do I know how the two compare in price but I have a boomkicker on my 30 and it works well - no topping lift needed. installation is easy. existing rope vang provides the counter force to the boomkickers fiberglass rods. It is great to do away with the toppinglift. Photo attached is not good detail but shows how the boomkicker is mounted inside the vang angle.
