Boomkicker vs. other rigid vangs...

Late last season, I purchased a boomkicker for my 260 but never got the chance to install it. I've seen some past discussion on the pros and cons of the various products. As I recall, it seemed like quite a few folks didn't like the boomkicker. I'm trying to decide whether to go ahead and install what I already have (my preferred solution) or bite the bullet and purchase a different rigid vang. I'd sure appreciate feedback from those that have used (and installed) the boomkicker vs. other rigid vang products. Thanks!

I put a Boomkicker on my 35.5 six years ago. It was the first mod that I did. Haven't regretted it a bit. My topping lift is only used when the sail is dropped and this is because of the Dutchman flaking system.

Best thing since sliced toast!

I have a 2000 Hunter 270 (i.e. a 260 with a bulb-wing keel and an inboard diesel) and I, too, have installed a boomkicker on my boat. I am so satisfied with it that I have removed the topping lift altogether. The only thing that I recommend is that you obtain a more easily adjustable boom vang as the factory stock one is more difficult to use under the upward load created by the boomkicker. In short, go for it!

I like mine...........also took my topping lift off to free up an in-boom line for a second reefing line........I've got an H23
