Wondering -- where do you put your boom while trailering? On my old boat, I lashed it topside. That worked out well and kept the interior clear. Haven't trailered my Hunter 26 yet, and just was wondering what people did to keep everything secure and yet out of the way.

We pull the boom off with the mainsail still on and with the sail still on and store it down below. Beware of the graphite/grease on the mast end, it will mark up your cushions. I wrap a towel or rug around it now.

On ours we kept the table rotated to the bow and just place the boom on the table as far as we can get it into the vberth. We then put the gin pole on top and bungee everything to the compression post. Jim S/V Java

All the responses are good. I usally tell everyone to put the boom on the table of course cushioned so not to scratcht the table and tied very well to the compression post. Make sure that you cushion the end against the v berth forward wall as not to scratch. The big thing is to secure well and cushion from scratching. Gone to scratch butt crack or should I say Crazy gone bye bye

Hi all, For winter storage, the sail comes off and the boom is on the salon table lashed to the compression post as mentioned in previous posts. However, especially for summer trailer sailing to different locations, I have left the sail and sail cover on the boom and lashed it to the stantions securly so it can't move fore aft or sideways. Also secure the sail cover well, esp. at the ends so that it doesn't flap. This makes setup/take down a little less work and keeps the cabin clear. Also can lash the mast pole to stantions. I sometimes lash it to trailer, under the bow (runing fore/aft.). Fair winds, Tom

How about on the trailer?
The previous owner installed some cushioned yokes on the forward horizontal vee part of the trailer for storing the various metallic parts when not in use. While trailering they hold the boom and gin-pole. While sailing they hold the mast support pole and gin-pole. Elastic straps easily hold everything in place. No chance of damaging the boat interior if things are kept mounted on the trailer!
