What size boom vang is proper for 240 , boat did not come with one. Thanks

Here's a picture of the boom vang that came with my 1986 O'Day 222. I added an extra long 5/16" braid line to it so that I could use it to raise/lower my mast with my Gin Pole.
Each fiddle block is about 7" long and has two sheaves on each block. Both my mainsheet and the vang were made by Slater and the quick shackles are Merriman. I think it would be an excellent choice for an O'Day 240.

Sometimes you can pick up some used fiddle blocks with quick release snap shackles real cheap in a marine consignment shop and all you need is the braid line to make it up.
