The toggle that connects the Isovang boom vang to the mast bracket on our Vision-36 has bent about 30-40 degrees. This is the second time in a year. Had it straightened the first time -- seems senseless to do it again until I figure out what is happening.
This toggle is a 5/8" stainless steel plate. The Isovang was the original designed vang for the boat. It seems that nothing short of an elephant standing on the boom would bend it. The Vision has an unstayed mast and no topping lift. The bang supports the full weight of the boom. I'm using the main halyard as a topping lift to support the boom until I fix/replace the vang.
This is not a result of weather/seas, or some other catastrophic event.
Any ideas on what is causing the toggle to bend?
Thanks all.
Steve B.
