Just sailed my boat for the first time and trying to figure out how everything goes. Did these boats come with a boom vang? I need something to get my boom pulled down.

Hi Tim, my 1978 H30C has boom vang, down haul and traveler...highlighted in the attached image. I bought the boat in November 2015 and just assumed these were all standard rigging. With goose neck slider, down haul, and traveler combination, it seems a bit redundant to have a boom vang. But I have yet to see what happens with big following waters...not likely on the finger lakes! We shall sea.
Nice lookin' boat. I'm sure you didn't mean that ^^^^. The vang is an important element of sail control. For once your mainsheet is out all the way, the vang is the only control you have for your boom.

Once the traveler is payed out fully downwind in big blows, no way to correct the boom lift and flatten the sail pocket without it. Can't wait to get an opportunity to see what happens. Not many big blows up here. So far the Labatt's, shrimp cocktail, antipasto, Pinot Grigio, and 50+ year old women in bikinis is my biggest distraction. That's actually a good thing.

To answer your question: No, I don't think these boats came with a boom vang. The Cherubini Hunters were an idealistic attempt to make sailboat ownership affordable. They were very well designed, but pretty basic; targeted to a price point. My H30 did not come from the factory with a boom vang either. I added a rigid boom vang from Garhauer.
We added a vang to ours. Just a straightforward 5-fold fall mounted on bales at the bottom of the mast and the boom at a 45 degree angle.
It works fine when the main is sheeted outside the traveler. I used snap shackles at both ends, so it is easily adapted as a preventer, or as a fall at the end of the boom to hoist a M.O.B. aboard.
