Is there anyone who uses the original Proctor boom roller reefing for
the mainsail?
Mine is not converted to jiffy reefing (yet), and I had a need to
reef last weekend. My main has two sets of reefing grommets, but I
do not see how this set-up could ever get to the second reef. The
problem seems to be that the boltrope piles up on the very front of
the boom to the extent that it interferes with the crank handle when
I try to roll past the first reef line.
Additionally, I put a sailbag in the works about 2/3 of the way aft
on the boom, per Brohall suggestion, but the front part of the sail
bags and creases-up badly.
Any suggestions?
