Boom/Mast track worn

Hi All,

On my boat, the short track on the lower aft of the mast that the boom
connects to is worn badly and the boom doesn't like to raise with the
main sail. Anyone else have this problem and if so, is there a
solution? Thought about just raising the boom to the black mark and
putting a permanent stopper there, but then there is no downhaul
function. Not sure how to deal with it.

Hi Larry. Make sure you check the rivets holding that short piece of track
on as well as the other track for the sail. Later model Vegas have an
extruded track and the boom roller furls via a crank through the mast. You
should be able to furl yours by using the crank that fits into your
gooseneck.
Any way when I got around to checking my track a number of the rivets had
corroded to the point of being non functional. 3/16" aluminum pop rivets
will work if you have to replace any of them.
