boom kicker from hunterowners chandlery

Has anyone purchased one of the boom kickers sold through the chanlery of this site? For example, there is one for $154 for the H216 offered. It doesn't replace the existing vang. It supplements the vang. I'm trying to decide if this will be "good enough" or if I should go with a model that replaces the vang as well.

I ordered one

I ordered on for my 35.5 - it will do away with the topping lift which is a pain as I have to go to the mast to adjust and it also get snagged when I tack at times. The boom vang will still be required for tension on the boom as the kicker only gives upward support. Solid vangs with all the controls are considerably more expensive.

Got one for my H26 and it fit perfectly in the triangle formed by the vang. I can't imagine using a solid vang - just too much for this size boat. The bkicker is excellent - you'll love it. Plus, it's a piece of cake to install - they even provide the tap AND the drill bit for it...
