Boom furling

the sail on Blue Fin is set up with reef points, don't know if that's
relevant or not--when I furl around the boom, I have to slide the
lower slugs out of the little slot on the boom and then whatever
additional slugs necessary for appropriate reefing. Is this as it
should be or is there a better way?

Thanks,

Victor

Just started sailing Isis V-703 a few days ago and having great fun.
Its been a year of refurbishing but worth it. Beta setup working like
a charm. However I could use a bit of help with the proper setup for
rigging the boom furling with the main sail. If anyone has a sketch
and description of how the lines are supposed to go that would be
great. Thanks, Colin...

Hi Colin

Have a look at the Technical Notes about slab reefing set-up. If still in
doubt have a look at a set-up I just fitted on a Westerly Centaur for a
friend. www.bluemoonlight.co.uk Look at the refitting page and shows you a
photo of the boom track I fitted. Two cleats are at the forward end of the
boom to tie off the reefing lines.

Cheers
