Be careful
My 1996 281 has Z-Spar (US spar)in-mast with an external boom track. If yours also has an external track on top of the boom and you decide to remove the car, watch out because as you slide it off the track, there is nothing to hold the torlon bearings in place and you will be picking them out of all kinds of nooks and crannys for months/years to come. I am speaking from experience because I took mine apart last fall. Buying new ball bearings is pretty expensive and I couldn't see any way to get them back into the car anyway. I ended up sending the car and all the bearings I was able to salvage to US Spar and they sent me a replacement car at, what I consider, a reasonable price. The replacement car comes with the bearings installed. It is mounted on a short, modified piece of track that you butt end to end to your boom track and roll the car on. While I had the car off, I thoroughly cleaned and lubed the track. I also found 2 or 3 burrs that I filed off. All works very smoothly.Good luck.
