boom bail screws stripped

I am using a friends 30' Catalina sailing on Lake Tahoe. The middle boom bail screws on the port side have stripped out. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to repair/replace theses screws. Because the boom is so thin walled I don't think heli-coil would be an option but I may be wrong.

What I did on our boat was to use through bolts. I'm surprised yours are screws, but I improved mine so long ago I forgot if they used bolts or screws.
