Is it OK to leave the boom and sail attached to the mast when the mast is lowered onto it's rest? I keep my boat on the trailer at the marina and it is about a hundred yards to the ramp. I don't want to leave the mast up because of trees on route. Thanks, Bob B.

I tried lowering my mast this past weekend with the boom still attached (to get under a bridge), and I bent the gooseneck bolt almost to the point of breaking it before I realized what was happening. This was on a 26S, and I'm not exactly sure about the 26M, but I figured out the lazy way is not the best way.

I had to fab a new aluminum rod after my little "accident" on my 26S. Can you lower it enough to get under the trees and raise it again?

Drive around the trees

I would try to get the trees trimmed? Similar situation: In our area I was forced to drive on the dirt for about two months until we all spoke up and got the trees trimmed. Lowering the mast a little with the boom attached might be possible, but definitely not completely. look at the mac dealer photos like Inmon yachts, and you will find an M passing under a bridge. the thing to observe is the boom is not attached.
