Booklet Charts on NOAA site

I've been using these booklet charts and really like them. Have not seen them mentioned here so thought I should share. They are in an experimental phase so they are free for the time...

We be mates! I discovered these last year ish and have used them ever since. Sure, where I one of the big boys, I could have a domestic lay out the full sized chart on the chart table in the navigation room! But us little guys have to think small. I'll plan the trip on the full size, but the blow-by-blow is done on the booklet charts. I put pages back to back in plastic cover pages, in a notebook with the opening facing down. I theorize that it keeps water out. The bottom is sealed with transparent tape. They work great. After all, at 20 something feet, how long does it take to sail off the page!!!

My primary complaint about them is carrying the Lat-Lon numbers from the edges of the chart to the middle. I find they are great when I am going outside of my regular territory.

I think I recall a post a couple of years ago about this booklets. That is how I found them and started using them. Well, two years ago I started using them. They do not work in Afghanistan. But I think NOAA will be coming out with desert sailing charts soon.
