I need to replace all of the gaskets on every hatch and portlight of my 1979 H37C. I know that I can purchase them from Pompanette for around $200 (it is sold be the foot, 2 different sizes) but was wondering if anyone had found a more resonable alternative and or source. I intend to eventually replace the ports with SS but need to get a couple more years out of the old ones. Thanks Richard McDonald Rhapsodie

i purchaced some at an "by the foot price" and it was reasonable. purchaced both the port and hatch stuff and i think it was less than $100 for ALL the hatches and about 1/2 the ports www.thriftymariner.com but don't expect an email reply call and get a person FWIW

if you can get him to call you

We recently replaced all our port lights with the Gray's (my hands are still recovering from the trauma of removing the old one's). We were in contact with Thrifty Mariner but we just couldn't get him to call us back, once. He was very inconsistant but his prices were fantastic. If you can get hold of him and get him to send you the parts than by all means get them from there, we just couldn't and had to do it the expensive way before the rains started in for the year.

No Thrifty Mariner web site

I just tried www.thriftymariner.com and it seems the they are no longer on that server, with no further info. Are they out of business ?

Richard ?

I need to replace all the gaskets on my hatches, too (I also have a 1979 H37C). Can you tell me what the Grey/Bomar part number is for the hatch gasket material? I'm having a hard time figuring out what model my hatches are. Thanks, Morrie

Make sure it's the right size.

I bought some material from one of the parts houses that was supposed to be for the Bomar hatch. It looked fine, but leaked. Later I found one that I think was Bomar's part. It was just a slight bit bigger and did the trick. I don't recall the sizes, but It doesn't take much to make the difference between leaking and not leaking. The one I found that worked had a thin strip of double sided sticky tape already on it, just pull off the paper on the second side and push it into the groove.
