Retail vs Wholesale
Tony:I understand your reluctance to pay full retail price for specialized hardware - but you ARE (after all) a retail customer. It costs a lot of money to manufacture or stock slow-moving inventory, and it's also expensive to service "smaller" orders (pick, pack, ship & invoice the parts). When (1992) I managed an Electrical Wholsale Distribution operation, my average "overhead" cost on a counter sale was $20 - which meant that I needed $20 mark-up just to cover my service costs. This did not include the: - cost of inventory (interest on investment, warehouse space, etc.)- profit.Perhaps you can see why I did not welcome "retail" sales. Manufacturers, that offer "direct" sales must charge full retail prices to (almost) recover their actual costs, and to protect their distributers (who are their 'real' customers).Respectfully,Gord
