bolts positions etc for Vega deck cleats? (fwd)

Hi all,
on hols in (very hot) Turkey. Came across chandlery with good price on deck
cleats.

I have the ?older? layout with one foredeck cleat & two aft.

I have the ?older? type with a metal fitting holding a hardwood cylinder.

Before buying I need to check that - if at all possible - they will fit the
existing holes .

I assume that each metal "holder" is through-bolted with two bols - are are the
bolts integral to the holder?

In any case I'd be v grateful for the diameters and separation of the ?2?
holes.

Yes John 2 holes. I know this becuase the fwd one was torn clean off when anchoring in a bit of strong wind (yes I had a snubber and the 15mm nylon line was snapped too!). I replaced the cleat with one of those that has a solid flat plate at the bottom and 6 screw holes - this covered up the two original holes. That will not be going anywhere without taking a chunk of foredeck with it. I don't recall the hole separation of the original cleats but you should be able to measure it from below. The diameter is similar to M8 but probably not metric.

If I recall the threaded part of the fitting is integral to the ring. And as an aside, Ebay has an auction for SOLAS grade distress signals. Go to Ebay home and type in SOLAS yachting. Currently no bids, ends day after tommorow. Flares expire in 02/2011. Paines Wessex; 6 parachutes, 4 handhelds, 2 smokes and the container. Looks to be a good deal. Its the usa site for ebay. Walt

The hole separation is 100mm.
