Ah, bobstays
Hello,I like wire out there: it gives more warning of break; it is more resilient when struck; it can be fabricated with hand tools; and terminals are easier to come by. Rod, to give it credit, is more corrosion-resistant, at least in the rod itself, but we typically see crevice corrosion problems at the joints. And it is easy to kink.My favorite bobstay would be one with no turnbuckle, and a sacrificial, toggled linkplate at the bottom end. Be sure to run your loading numbers before choosing a size. Also check cranse iron and stem fitting for scantlings and dimensions.Fair leads,Brion Toss
