My 1980 Hunter 37 is in Mexico and I failed to measure several items that need replacing when I go back down later this month.
The lines to running backstays and topping lift are getting old. I think they're 7/16th but I'm not sure of the lengths. Also my shower hose needs replacing and I don't know the size of the fitting coming out of the shower wall to screw on a new hose.
Any help?

Might be able to help. I'll check in the morning to see what answers you already have before I go to the boat. But some questions:

1) Is your toppng lift from the end of the boom and over a sheave and down to the bottom of the mast? You see I still have the wire from the boom to the top of the mast and that is connected to a normal spare halyard(7/16"). You can calculate that as length of sail roach plus height of the mast from the deck plus length to cockpit(if you run the line back).

2) Are your running backstays the wire ones with the 2:1 purchase, a single block on each end? So you are just asking about the line from the end of the wire? That line is 1/4" on my boat. It would be 4' x 3 at the shortest and 6' x 3 at the furthest back that I ever set them.

3) Pretty sure the shower hose is the same size as the one in your kitchen sink. Or your neighbor's if you don't have a separate spray. :) But I will check.

For what it's worth, if your 7/16th rope has been on the boat for many years, strength of today's 3/8" formulations are likely to be vastly greater and less stretch than 7/16 or even up to 5/8 manufactured a decade or so ago. And smaller diameter might save a few $'s ... worth considering anyway.

Thank you both for the info.

I recently replaced all my running rigging. My lines on the running back stays are 36 feet of 3/8". They are a little too long but I thought if I need to let them out there is plenty.
