I need to move my Hunter 260 from Boise, ID to Minneapolis, MN. It is on it's own trailer. Any suggestions or contact information on how to drag her from here to there would be appreciated.

Been there done that

We moved from Custer, South Dakota to southwest Ohio about 7 years ago and we pulled out Hunter 240 the 1200 mile distance. No problems what so ever. At the time I pulled it with a Chevy Blazer. Just take it slow and make sure that you don't have the vehicle in overdrive, or the transmission will take a beating. We towed that 240 all around the country with no problems, except the time we pulled it to Lake Superior in 95 degree temps and left it in overdrive for 10 hours non-stop...by by transmission. Make sure you have a spare tire, as that is probably what will need to be replaced somewhere along the journey. We now keep a Hunter 30 on Lake Erie and don't worry about trailers anymore. Good luck and enjoy Minnesota.

I would go through some prep work first

I would repack the bearings, if they are questionable, i would replace them. I would also invest in an extra hub with studs, bearings (pre-grease them before you leave), castle nut, cotter pin. If you can, get 2. One with out a rotor/drum, whatever you have, and the other with just a hub. A spare tire is a must. 2 is always better than 1. Make sure that the tow rig is tuned up, good tires, brakes, fresh engine and tranny fluid. Other than that, your good to go. FYI I trailered my H22 from Florida to Connecticut and i didn't prep it right, needless to say i had a massive bearing failure in the middle of Orlando. I guess the fun police were on patrol that day. Do yourself a favor and avoid the same misfortune that i had by making sure things are set before you leave, not on the side of an 6 lane highway on a Friday afternoon in the middle of a rather large city.

Check out Uship (link below)

It's sort of classifeid ads for small truckers and folks who need stuff moved. There are folks with 3/4 ton pickup trucks (some insured, some not) who will tow your trailer. I located a mom and pop operation with 25 years experience, insurance, and a real boat hauling trailer for boats up to 40'. Deal fell through and I didn't use them, but I would have been as comfortable with them as with a big hauler.
