I invite all comments on overland boat transport companies. The boat is a 37' Legend, 13' beam, 5' draft, 16,000 lbs, 50'? mast, 10'? high, from North Carolina to Maryland in the next 2 weeks.

Sail / Motor Waterway Option

John, Is there any possibility you would sail it from NC to Annapolis area or take it up the ICW. I have made the trip several times up and down between the Chesapeake and North Carolina and it is an easy and enjoyable trip. I have done it in my own boat and helped others bring their boats south. Especially if it is already in the water it would make sense to go by water. I will check with my dealer and see if he has the capacity to transport a Legend 37. He transported my h340 and several others but a L37 is a lot bigger. Also Max & Sally Grove at Sail America in Annapolis does boat transport or Max could recommend someone. Make sure it is insured completely! Where in NC is your boat located?

Hunter Factory

John, Maybe write to Hunter, or email factory. They may provide rates, names or possibly even hook you up with a run they make to Norht Carolina and then pick up your boat. Good luck, Mike D Media, Pa S/V Serenity Tochester, Md

Sail it!

I just bought a '97 40.5 now located in Havre de Grace, MD and will be bringing it to Oriental in early May. I can't wait for this trip to begin! I've been planning and plotting and lining up my crew. I think it will be the highlight of my sailing experience. If you are not able to sail the boat yourself, I'm sure the cheapest way to transport it will be by a certified captain. Good luck and write back if I can be of any help.

Texas to Maryland

My work is transferring me to Columbia, MD in May for nine months. Since I have the option of taking my 40.5 from Kemah TX, around Florida and up the East Coast to Baltimore, I could use all the info I can get concerning such a cruise. I would be doing it in 3 or 4 'legs' with four days of work in between. Need to know the best marina in the area around Baltimore for live aboard.
