Boat Transport

I have a potential buyer of my Precision 28 in New York State. My boat is currrently in the water on Lake Ouachita about 20 miles West of Hot Springs, AR. I have no trailer. There is a crane on the lake for lowering the mast but the trailer would have to be backed into the water. The boat has a shoal keel and draws about 4-5 feet of water. I need recommendations for a transporter. Good equipment and reputation more important than cheap rate. Anybody know a good transporter? Would prefer an individual rather than a large company. Thanks all!

I can't answer your questions but I can tell you a member of our sailing club hired a transporter and a crane to bring his boat to our club. The transporter and crane were not affiliated with each other. The crane was pretty huge with double front axles. If the transport guy can't get in the water far enough you might look into a crane. You may want to go on-line to U-SHIP.COM and specify that you need loading assistance as part of the quote. I had my Cat30 transported from Savannah to NYC a few years ago and was very satisfied with the entire process. This may not work for you but it's worth a shot just to find out.

I second uship -- I believe that a lot of boat haulers go on there. Make sure to specify water retrieval and your boat dimensions. I also believe Rooke Sails out of TN can do water retrieval and launch.

Bo Smith for sure

Call Bo Smith for sure. If you don't have a winged keel I am sure he can do it with his hydro trailer. With our wing (man it's. wide), we pulled on one trailer and left it in stands and he scooped it up for the haul.

I used Bo Smith about 3 yrs ago to transport my H31. His hydraulic trailer worked great and he was a whiz at getting my mast down using a gin pole. No crane involved.

We just finished using Sailors Moving Sailors. They are out of Nashville,TN. First class organization. We were really pleased with them, and they were cheaper than anyone else we contacted.
