I've hung a Macgregor 21 and a Rhodes 22 from a stout limb in an oak tree using ratchet straps.

I would use long wood type lumber with concert blocks and did so with 20’ power boat many years ago.
You want to make sure what ever you use is going to not tilt any direction and that is the biggest problem.

I've done the same, with empty oil drums, on several boats

Here are some alternative approaches
I've restored 7 old sailboats so I've fooled around with this a lot. If you like this idea, I can send you more pics. In the first pic, the butt of the boat is sitting on a picnic table.

The second pic is a different boat. And I made these form fitted beams and suspended on cinder blocks.

For our MacGregor 26D, I've used sawhorses under the transom and cribbing under the bow. It worked fine and I already had all the materials.

Dragonfly hoisted off trailer.jpg

Built from the 4x4s of an old swing set I made for my kids many years ago. Used 3" deck screws and 4 eyebolts from the swings are holding up the boat. You have to use double ratchet straps or you can't lift to any height. Tighten one to loosen the other then reset and tighten that one. I walked all over Dragonfly while she was hanging there. I dropped the CB onto the trailer to get it out, so I lifted her about 18" above the trailer. Worked like a charm.
Cross bracing is a must, whatever method you use.
I wouldn't do this:
or this:

They use to use something like these at the marine ways where I grew up, these are nicer and lighter:

Hello Bartman99, We have used straw bales several times for hulls in the 800 to 1000 pound range. They distribute the weight well and can be positioned along the hull easily. About $5 to $6 each. My wife used them for winter plant protection when each of our boat projects was finished.

I have seen cinder blocks brake, and 55 gal. crush. I would not use them. Hard wood blocking is used to hold up bulldozers when working under them.

Catalina 270 255 Wabamun. Welcome to the marina
There's a reason that stands get chained together from side to side, but I only used a backhoe to pick up the boat so what do I know.
