I have never noticed the spreaders as a problem.With a RF main I always trim the main in to its most efficent setings. I never twist it to reduce heel. The ease of the RF main allows small reefing ajustments. When that gust hits you only need to let main out a little because you are not on the edge. I usually find on a windy day I am carring a smaller main than every one else, most are reefing their jibs.
