After doing repairs to the hull (some hurricane damage) I am thinking about repainting the entire hull with Awlgrip paint. Has anyone done it "at home" with a roller and paint brush (brushing right after roller)? Or do I have to get it done profesionally witha spray gun. The boat is a 1991 Hunter 30. ...that's a lot of painting...!!!. Any sugestions on what product to use? I was thinking on using Interlux paints. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated! Thank you all.

Check this thread.

The Related Link is a thread from when I asked the same question. I had an estimate of $3000. to repair 20+ small gelcoat scrapes and crazings on my 1979 H37C topsides. They recommended painting. What I will try first is repairing the gelcoat myself and then finishing with Poli-Glo. I have had the kit for four years and still not used it. I am not hung up on the aesthetics. So if the patches do not match I will not be upset. I have to do the stripes also. Awlgrip is the paint recommended for professionals and seems to be most oft used. But it is not an Interlux paint. For a DIY I would suggest Interlux Toplac. I have used both Toplac and Brightside on my cabin trunk. The Toplac was easier to apply and shows almost no brushstrokes. Sailnet has an excellent article about painting by Don Casey. A recent edition of one of the sailing mags also had a really good article.
