Can anyone identify this boat? It’s been reported to be wood construction, 23 feet in length circa 1963 and made in Bay City Michigan. The original owner has passed away and the estate offers no additional information. Considering it as a restoration project but would like to know more about it.

The registration numbers on the bow might offer some additional information. A question to the present owners regarding that paperwork if still available might be useful. +1 for the WoodenBoat connection and the Glen L or other homebuilt boats although the ad may only suggest the person was the original owner, not necessarily the builder.

Great suggestions, thanks. I think it being a kit built boat is the most likely circumstance considering the hull shape. The forum looks like a great resource. Unfortunately, I quit FB several years ago and am hesitant to re-join. I have a philosophical objection to social media. Weird, I know.

There are good uses of social media and you are making good use of one form of social media. ;)

As with any tool, social media can be used for good or evil, it is how we use it and consume that makes a difference.

I keep thretening to do so.... the only time I ever get on FB is to accept a friend request. Most of my "friends" are work related so I fear that killing my page might offend some of my colleagues.

My kids call this 'Dad's chat room'. But isn't THIS social media? If not, then why does it take as much of my time? :)

This IS social media, but centered around sailing, not what we had for breakfast or why is Sally breaking up with me. I don't do FaceBook. Gave up on the local neighborhood NextDoor media. Even LinkedIn which is supposed to be business oriented has become too chatty.

I like that boat but it will be a labor of love because I'd wager it's pretty slow.

I wonder about the future of sailing on social media. My observations, and these are averages: Boomers have taken over Facebook and appear to have driven most of the millennials to Instagram. FB groups give me an outlet for photography and some writing.

Millenials own Instagram but you'll find some mix as with all groups. I haven't gotten into Instagram as I'm too wordy and enjoy writing and photography. Plus it's phone cam easy and a pain if you use and SLR. But I go there to see what my millennial adult kids are doing.

Gen-X (40 - 45) in sailing also is strong on main stream social media, joining boomers on FB.

Gen-Z(youngest sailors) are with the millennials to Instagram), or tick tock (so I'm told but don't go there, I'd feel like a Pedo. )but they will probably rebel when 'their' platform is invented, likely in the future.

The classic sailing forums hold the oldest (on average) group of sailors on social media, in my experience. I like this form of communication as it's polite and thoughtful and involves the most amount of writing, so you learn things. I'm afraid the lack of young members may be unsustainable for 'us', but the forums chug along.

Youtube is a sailing dessert from my view. I've found some great stuff (and friends) but you have to control the algorithm or it will lead you no-where sailing, just people desperate to make a few bucks.

The good news is, from what I see, sailing is strong across this broad spectrum.

We have certainly covered such topics as what we've had for breakfast and if Sally is the name of your boat, we may be asked, "Why is Sally breaking up on me." Very similar.
