I went to register my 1975 daysailor and DMV told me that the VIN should have 12 digits and not 11. They told me to look on the hull for the number but I have searched everywhere on it and can't find it. Has anyone any Idea where I will find it. Thanks, John.

hull numbers

Hi John; I'm guessing that you will find the number on the outside of the transom, molded into the fiberglass. If that isn't so, look on the inside of the transom to see if maybe there is evidence of a missing metal plate that would have shown the manufacturer etc. My 23 ft. Tempest has a metal plate in the cockpit just behind the rudder-tiller post. Aside from that, search this site under resources and boat info for earlier posts on this topic. There is also an ODay group on Yahoo. If all else fails, you might call Rudy at D&R Marine (easily found on Google) for suggestions. Also, do you have paperwork from the previous owners registration? Or maybe that's the root of your trouble? Good luck.
