I need to have a Catalina 25 hauled to its new home. Does any one know of a good, reliable resource for towing this boat on its own trailer? Thanks Rod Ford

A1 Haul-A-Boat

Give Bill West at A1 Haul-A-Boat a call. 1-866-590-1156…. I used them last spring to move a Catalina 27 from Ohio to NJ (no trailer)and was very pleased with their service. Bill West is very helpful and the driver was very careful and knows what he was doing. All went well for me using this company.

From where to where? When?

My son moves boats professionally. Lots of times he can handle a short haul as a piece of a longer, empty leg of a delivery (or return). Pretty good price if he can fir it in this way. e-mail me direct if interested, I'll tell you more. Dave jdmahan@yahoo.com

Lessons Learned

Since I started this post about Boat Hauling I thought I should update the forum with my lessons learned. #1 When searching for trucking companies to assist with the move it is better to search Google with "Boat Transport" rather than "Boat Haul" #2 The trucking companies will compete for your business. Negotiate price and timing with them. Sort of like buying a used car, you have to work them a bit. Even if they send you a quote, call them and give them a chance to beat the competition. #3 Never, never, never give them a deposit. #4 You are never locked in to any transporter until they have your boat on their truck. You can always switch transporters. This is an advantage that can be used for negotiation. Rod Ford 1990 C-25 #6022 of 6031 WK/TR
