As christmas is coming up. what games do you carry on your boat? I have this neat little chess set that I carry for those rainy days. These make great Christmas presents, and are small but quality games. Travel games like Chess, Cribbage, Yatzee, and of corse any card game are geat to have on the boat. I tried the cheap Dollar store travel games, but found the parts too light and they didn't last too long. One or two good quality games can keep a rainy day from ruining a trip. Checker any-one?

Im thinking of getting a nintendo wii for the kids, keeps them busy while I sail.

cribbage

On my V21 I considered drilling the peg holes into the plank that supports the keel winch. On my M25 they may be drilled into the cabin table. Either way, a couple tooth picks and a deck of cards and you've got it.

A real pirate game

Not sure what it's called (will loo tonight) but Lenore picked it up in Las Vagas at the "pirate casino". Supposedly a traditionl game of the era it has an 8 sided metal spinner (looks like a top) plus a quantity of reproduction Spannsh coins. The spinner determines what you wager and what you take from others but there is strategy involved. Fun to play at anchor... Chris

No Offense

Not to be rude but a Wii on a boat...?? Isn't the point of being on the boat to get away from having kids sit staring vacantly at a TV. Hell, I don't even let my kids bring gameboys on board. If we want entertainment during the day they.....sail or read. At night we play games on board such as Uno, phase ten, checkers, chess or even Monopoly. Just my two cents worth.

Nintendo wii

Mark No offense taken, but its hard to play board games while I am sailing. I have a 14 month old, 4 year old, and 6 years old. At their age, I do play chutes and ladder and candy land when we are anchored. I got rid of my Xbox 360 due the lack of interactive games for younger kids. Wii at least gets you to exrecise your arms and legs with its interactive controls (sure gets the blood going). Im looking to get their interactive Yoga for the wii. Young kids (babies) and sailing for long hours could get boring for them. I do enjoy having a Laptop with me to chart my passage, do work and watch Movies at night. To think about it I did play a board game on a Palm TX with my 6 year old while sailing. Having those extra amenities gets my kids to beg me to go sailing. Growing up my dad used to force me to go fishing every weekend, now I don't even like fishing nor eating fish. Im sorry to sound so high tec (I didn't think I was), but I am just mixing it up a little so my kids will enjoy sailing. I would hate for them to remember it as long hours doing nothing. I did buy my 2 oldest kids binoculars to watch the bouy markers for me and they help me (steer) navigate. Tommorow (70 degree's tommorow) we are going on a field trip, my family are going sailing to Mount Vernon (George Washington's House), looks like I got a rare special permission (I called them) to dock my boat on the Mount Vernon estate since the tour boats visting Mount Vernon) are off season. I borrowed DVD's about Mt Vernon so my kids can watch it on the way there. -------------Happy Thanksgiving! Captain E------

Now that sounds ok then

Hey Capt E, Now that sounds like a good reason to have a Wii sorry if I sound a little passionate about this before. I just know to many parents that use the TV and the video game systems as babysitters and have no interaction with there kids. Heck they even have them in cars now so that when you go on family trips no one has to talk to each other...

My mom and aunt got me on this game. It is probably the best two person card game I've ever played. When we got a deck, I was reading the directions while the Admiral was preparing dinner. I said "Let's try this while I got the idea in my head." It was 2:00 AM before we finally put the cards back in the box. A great time killer for a rainy anchorage.

Sea Cards

Where do you get this game? Sounds like a good pass time on a boat. I can get these chess sets pretty cheap. How much is the Sea Cards game?
