Hello Northwest Vega sailors. I'm from Port Townsend,WA currently
spending the winter in Florida. Here's the deal on the boat for sale.
My son who is a college student took this year off from school, drove
to Miami and spent his summer's earning plus the proceeds from the
sale of his Coronado 25 on a Vega 27. Needless to say he was a
pretty happy camper. He spent 3 weeks in Miami cleaning and painting
the boat and then headed for the Bahama Islands where he is spending
the winter. He will be bringing the boat into the Fort Pierce area
around the end of March and hoping to sell it quickly, before heading
back to PT and his summer job teaching sailing for the Wooden Boat
Foundation. I am here in Florida now, perhaps flying out to Nassau to
sail back with him and, in the meantime, putting the word out for
potential buyers. Unfortunately I don't know many specifics about
the boat. What I do know follows:
It has a single cylinder Yanmar which was starting with difficulty at
the time Hans bought the boat. He has since burned the starter up
and believes the compression is bad, probably the cause of the
starting difficulties.
The boat was rewired and has recent batteries, shortly before he
bought it.
It has recent interior cushion covers.
He repainted and revarnished the interior before leaving on this
voyage in November.
The sails are tired and the inventory is small.
Here's the good part...the price tag for this cleaned up, but short
on inventory vessel will be under $6000 probably closer to $5000.
Interested? My cell phone is 360-961-6379.
My email is: daubie99@...
I'll be at these numbers until I leave for Nassau around March 21.
The boat will be back in the states by the 1st of April.
Hope to see some of you in the NW... Maybe Hans and I will make it to
the rendevous and he can tell you some tales of the Bahamas.
Best Regards, Jim Daubenberger
