col 26 mk2

I just got a new colombia 26 that a friend gave to me I really like it it sails beutifully and is really seaworthy in some pretty nasty weather well I sailed down to my house and the next day I found it flooded with water it seems when the tide went out the boat ran aground and the pressure on the keel put a small crack at the keel and hull joint I was just wondering whether any one else had this problem with there boat when it runs aground and lays on its side.

Duh

Well yeah any boat that is grounded is going to have problems. This is not a problem with Columbias....any boat cannot be subjected to grounding and expect to get away without a problem. Suggest you buy some tide tables and take a course or two in seamanship from the local power squadron. Don't fret we all started from scratch and experience is the best teacher. Bet it doesn't happen to you again. Good luck.

Shouldn't happen

When you look at any ship yard, most of the vessels that have been pulled are sitting on their keels. Boats that are anchored in high tidal areas are often seen lying on their sides during low tide. The act of putting the boat's weight on the keel, shouldn't cause any structural problems.

leaky bolts

The water could be coming from somewhere else. Mine leaked through the bolts holding up the sail drive unit.
