I want a cover for my 16ft Suncat to use while it is stored, with the mast off. I store it on a trailer but don't have to trailer it very far to launch it, so a cover for trailering isn't necessary. Would I be better off with a custom made cover or has anyone had success with any stock covers?

Thanks,Kevin

I'm pretty sure the one on my Capri 16.5 was a stock one, though it did have rubber pads added where the turnbuckle and jib cleats were. It came without a frame and water tended to pool in the cockpit area so I made a PVC frame to "tent it over the cockpit. That took care of the worst of the pooling.

I just bought two from Sailor's Tailor(http://www.sailorstailor.com/). One easy on/off for the dock and one for the trailor. The quality, I think, is outstanding. The trailer cover is designed to be used with mast up or down. I do not see the Suncat in their list of custom covers. But maybe one of those is close enough in dimension. It would be worth a call to them I think.

For my Highlander, not for the H37C. :)

I have had good luck using HD silver plastic tarps. Use a small soldering iron or Weller to burn small holes along the edge, shape it the way you want and lace it together using light nylon flag halyard type line. You can even use discarded tarps and be "green"
