Boarding ladder steps

I own a 34' sailboat but not a Catalina. My boarding ladder consists of just 1" diameter tubing with nothing on the steps to protect your bare feet. The tubing is not even flattened on the steps to make it easier on your feet. I see that Catalina has plastic type step pads mounted on their Ladders. Where can I purchase these step pads and is there any known approximate cost? Thanks

I had this problem and one solution is to order from the Boats U.S. catalog steps that will securely attach to the round ladder rungs. They're not cheap (around 29.00 each, but they're easy to install and are made wide to fit most ladder widths. It's a good idea to countersink the screws to avoid someone stepping on a screw head. Good Luck.

On my Catalina 25 I made the steps from a material called "TREX". Its a plastic wood product found at most GOOD lumber yards, and at @ 3/4 " thick it was strong. This is very EASY to work with and was still in great shape 6 years after install. Also call a company call "PLASTEAK" in Copley, Ohio.. they make all kinds of stuff from plastic that looks like teak 330-668-2587. Good luck
