I have a boarding ladder that I want to install on the transom of my O'Day 192. It appears that the transom is reinforced behind the motor mount (Starboard side) and rudder with 3/8th plywood glassed in. I want to install the ladder on the Port side. Unfortunately there is no reinforcement on that side. Glassing in plywood reinforcement there will be difficult.
The mounting pads for the ladder are 3" in diameter, 3/16" thick stainless steel 15" apart. I'm thinking of reinforcing with backing plates of either epoxied 3/8 plywood or 3/16" aluminum. I think that a 6" x 18" backing plate should be good.
Thoughts, suggestions, comments are appreciated.
Thanks
