Has anyone taken their Mac26 on an ocean cruise? Specifically has anyone sailed from the east coast to the Bahamas and beyond. Has anyone sailed their 26 across the gulf of mexico? I'm planning some gulf sailing this winter and a Bahamas trip next summer. Sure could use some advice. We've only sailed inland lakes and resevoirs in Kansas, MO and TN. Any info you can send would be appreciated. Thanks Scruffy

Ocean Cruising Mac 26

You could check 2003 Practical Boatowner August, I think. (There is a web site). There was an article about sailing a Mac from England, across the Channel and the Bay of Biscay, and after a canal trip across France, on to the east coast of Spain. Apparently no trouble except for losing the centerboard crossing Biscay. The company sent a replacement which was installed before the Mediteranean portion of the cruise.

See Cpt Jim's Trip Log

Check Cpt. Jim's web site. Full of articles on trips he has taken. A little thin on actual boat performance but very worthwhile reading. http://www.a1sailboats.com/adventur.htm

Three times to the Bahamas

We have taken our Mac 25 three times to the Bahamas and once to the Dry Tortugas. We went twice to the Bahamas by ourselves and once with our sailing group, The Conch Cruisers, as John pointed out in an earlier post. Check out our website at www.conchcruisers.net
