My wife and I just completed a 7 day 6 night school with Blue Water Sailing School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We took ASA's Beginning Sailing, Advanced Sailing, and Costal Cruising. Our instructor Bill was excellent and the trip was awesome. We feel that it prepared us for chartering our own boat in unfamiliar waters. We left Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday making a brief trip offshore to Miami. Where we went through the major shipping channel. The next few days we spent making our way down into the keys. Learning the entire time. We returned the same way and on our offshore passage we encounted winds up to 25kts and 8-10ft seas. What a ride! At any rate, I heartily recommend the guys at BWSS for any sailing instruction. As self-taught inland lake sailors we needed the added instruction,navigation practice, man-overboard drills, and an inetensive review of boat systems on our Gib'Sea 43.
